A beta version of the software, named IBM System p Application Virtual Environment (System p AVE), was released this month by IBM. Transitive’s QuickTransit technology serves as the foundation for IBM System p AVE, which is designed to enable Linux/x86 applications to be consolidated with AIX 5L™ and Linux on POWER applications on a single server, thus significantly expanding the software ecosystem for IBM System p servers, and saving software developers valuable time and resources to support the System p architecture. “The customer excitement around this beta release shows that Transitive’s partnership with IBM is yielding real solutions with considerable business value,” said Bob Wiederhold, President and CEO of Transitive Corporation. “Our QuickTransit technology instantly enhances the value of any enterprise server platform, by allowing thousands of additional applications to run without source code or binary changes.” Interested customers and ISVs can download and evaluate System p AVE on their IBM System p and BladeCenter JS20 and JS21 servers, by visiting the beta Web site at: About Transitive Corporation Transitive Corporation is located in Los Gatos, California with a research and development team in Manchester, United Kingdom. “ The advantages of the virtualization trend are many and varied, but many datacenters may be forced to launch multiple virtualization strategies or expensive porting projects to account for the multiple platforms they maintain. Cross-platform virtualization eliminates this obstacle, allowing datacenters to take a single, simple approach to virtualization that delivers the maximum benefits from initiatives related to server consolidation, disaster recovery, energy efficiency, and legacy migration. By enabling immediate software migration to chosen strategic server platforms, we believe that Transitive can help eliminate much of the difficulty and expense that companies face when upgrading hardware.”
