Transitive Ranks High in The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100

Los Gatos, Calif. – October 4, 2004 – Transitive Corporation, the leading provider of software that enables transportability of applications across multiple processor and operating system pairs, today announced that the company has ranked 18th among the top one hundred fastest-growing, private technology companies in the United Kingdom as listed in The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 league table.

Now in its fourth year, The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 is compiled by Oxford-based research company Fast Track and was published in The Sunday Times business section on 3 October and on www.fasttrack.co.uk.

“Being named to The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 is an honor,” said Bob Wiederhold, President and CEO of Transitive. “The ranking means a great deal to our company and is a testament to the significant achievements we’ve made over the past several years.”

Transitive’s software technology allows other application software that has been compiled for one processor/operating system to be run on another processor/operating system without any source code or binary changes. Transitive recently announced its QuickTransit® product line and expects to announce customer successes by the end of 2004.

Criteria for The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100

Companies are ranked according to their annual growth rate in sales between 2001 and 2003. Companies had to be registered in the U.K. as unquoted ultimate holding companies. The league table adopts the London Stock Exchange’s techMARK definition of what constitutes a technology company. Companies primarily engaged in simply reselling or reassembling were excluded, as were companies mainly engaged in online activities, such as betting, auctions or retailing. Companies also had to forecast an increase in sales from 2003 to 2004, but were not required to be in profit.

The research was carried out by Fast Track between 15 April and 15 August 2004. All of the companies were interviewed by telephone and a majority were also visited by the Fast Track research team.

Computer OEMs, ISVs, internal software development groups, IT service providers, and agencies interested in QuickTransit® can contact sales@transitive.com to speak to a Transitive representative.

“ The advantages of the virtualization trend are many and varied, but many datacenters may be forced to launch multiple virtualization strategies or expensive porting projects to account for the multiple platforms they maintain. Cross-platform virtualization eliminates this obstacle, allowing datacenters to take a single, simple approach to virtualization that delivers the maximum benefits from initiatives related to server consolidation, disaster recovery, energy efficiency, and legacy migration. By enabling immediate software migration to chosen strategic server platforms, we believe that Transitive can help eliminate much of the difficulty and expense that companies face when upgrading hardware.”
